Requirements for e-Learning

 

Platform

The Baptist Training Center courses can be accessed across almost all popular platforms including: PC, Mac, IPad, IPhone, Android, and Blackberry. Whether you're on your computer, tablet, or smartphone, you can access your classes online. There is also support for listening to lectures through teleconferenced phone lines for those who have slow internet access. 

 

Basic Student Requirements

Students participating in an online e-Learning study course must have basic computer knowledge and internet navigation skills. Assignments will be required that involve knowing how to use a word processor such as Microsoft Word. 

 

Software Requirements

 

  • A Supported Web browser: See below.

  • A word processor such as Microsoft Word or Pages for Mac. Homework must be uploaded in either .Docx or .PDF format. 

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader or compatable PDF document reader

  • Zoom Web Conferencing App. Click link to download free.

  • For Android Devices: Zoom Cloud Meetings

  • For Apple Devices: Zoom Cloud Meeting in App Store

  • For Blackberry: Zoom Cloud Meetings from Blackberry World

  • Javascript and Flash must be enabled in your browser for a select few legacy apps used by some teachers.

 

Hardware Requirements​

  • An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)

  • Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth

  • A webcam or HD webcam - built-in or USB plug-in

  • Or, a HD cam or HD camcorder with video capture card

Processor and Memory Requirements

  • Pentium processor or better

  • 2 GB of RAM or more

 

Bandwidth Requirements

The bandwidth used in our online classes will be optimized for the best experience based on the participants’ network. It will automatically adjust for 3G, WiFi or Wired environments. 

 

Recommended bandwidth:

  • For Video Lectures: 600kbps/1.2Mbps (up/down) for HQ video. For gallery view: 1.5Mbps/1.5Mbps (up/down). 

  • For audio only VoiP: 60-80kbps
